EXCLUSIVE: How U.S. states rank on a PER CAPITA basis (4/7/20)

By CoronavirusWatch.com:

The following table shows U.S. states and territories ranked not by total cases (where states with large populations largely top the list due to their population size), but rather by total cases per million residents, which we believe is a far more meaningful number.

As shown, New York has the highest number of COVID-19 cases to date per million state residents (6,724), but that that number grew only 7% on April 6th.  New York has also has seen the most deaths to date per million residents (243), with that number having grown 14% on April 6th.  (As NY Governor Andrew Cuomo has pointed out in his press briefings, deaths lag a week or two behind new cases.)

Note that California, while in the news regularly due to its large population, ranks well below the national average in both cases and deaths per million residents. (Data through 4/6/20; data source Worldometers.info/coronavirus.)

  1. Very much appreciate the information provided in this website. Would like to see charts of new infections over time (days/dates) to help see the curves each state is experiencing.

If the above curves could also be shown on the trend the major races basis, this may help all understand the highest at risk ethnicity s.

Thanks again for providing the information in a comprehensive manner.
