Yesterday, world cases grew by 43,790 to 422,527 (up 12% in one day) and deaths by 2,384 to 18,890 (up 14%). U.S. cases grew by 11,705 to 54,856 (up 27% in one day) and deaths by 225 to 780 (up 41%). Here are our current urgent needs: (1) Encouraging more people to follow SOCIAL DISTANCING to “flatten the curve” so that our hospitals don’t become overwhelmed and dysfunctional two to six weeks from now. (2) Getting tens of millions of additional FACE MASKS and other personal protection equipment to medical professionals ASAP. (3) Getting more VENTILATORS to hospitals, recruiting additional MEDICAL PERSONNEL (e.g., retired doctors and nurses, 4th-year medical students) for upcoming overload, and finding additional ROOMS AND BEDS (e.g., tents, hotels, gyms, former nursing homes) for upcoming hospital overload.
